Creamy Tomato Basil Pasta
100g pasta
200g canned tomatoes
100ml cooking cream
1 tsp herbs
2 cloves garlic
1 small onion
2 tbsp parmesan cheese
Handful fresh basil
Pinch red pepper flakes
Chop the garlic and onion. Roughly chop the fresh basil leaves. Grate the Parmesan cheese. Measure out the cooking cream, canned tomatoes, herbs, and red pepper flakes.
In a pot of boiling salted water, cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
In a large pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped garlic and onion, and sauté until softened. Pour in the canned tomatoes, cooking cream, herbs, and red pepper flakes. Let the sauce simmer for 10 minutes.
Add the cooked pasta to the tomato cream sauce. Toss well to coat the pasta evenly in the creamy sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until heated through.
Sprinkle the pasta with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil. Add an extra pinch of red pepper flakes for a kick of spice. Serve hot and enjoy!
For a twist, you can add cooked chicken or shrimp to make it a heartier meal. Alternatively, you can use whole wheat pasta for a healthier option with added fiber.
